Is theatre the future of entertainment?

Life moves in cycles, and it seems everything repeats itself. What is it that we lose sight of as a society? Why do values change, only to return to where they started? Perhaps it’s simply the way we function, as individuals and therefore, as a collective.

I’m a Spanish Voice Actor, an extension of acting itself. I began in theatre as a child and later specialized in the art of interpretation through voice. I now work from my studio, in front of a microphone, without memorizing a single line. But it feels like that era may be coming to an end, and that the future is calling me back to the stage; to live events, where people can be sure that I’m real, that I’m alive, that I’m feeling what I say.

Audiences want that assurance, because we can no longer fully trust what we see or hear. We struggle to enjoy what’s presented to us, because somewhere in the back of our minds, we doubt that it was created by humans, that it was spontaneous, or spoken from genuine experience and emotion. And it’s not only the voice we distrust now, but also the digital image.

That’s why I believe the future of entertainment will return to where it all began: to live, human performance. It will be the only true certainty that what we’re experiencing… is real.
